New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Monday lambasted Congress president Rahul Gandhi and asked him to apologise to Hindus for defaming the community. “Those who defamed Hindus across the world in the name of Hindu terror are now seeking vote by sporting janeu (sacred thread),” said the BJP president while speaking at the ‘India Ka DNA 2019 Conclave’. Mounting scathing attack on the grand old party, Shah further stated that the Congress president spoke about Hindu terror to the American envoy. “He said Lashkar-e-Taiba is not a problem, Hindu terror is. Congress coined Hindu terror for vote bank. The grand old party released terrorists and was soft on them,” Shah told Zee News. Also Read - Would Not Have Come to This Had Govt Done Its Job: Rahul Gandhi on Foreign Aid For India

On being asked about Rahul’s candidature from Wayanad, Shah said Amethi is difficult for the Congress president this time. The BJP has once again fielded Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani from Amethi in the upcoming general election. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Rahul had defeated Irani by a margin of over one lakh votes. Meanwhile, he also exuded confidence that NDA will register a massive mandate in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019 and Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister once again. “BJP will register a massive mandate in this election by bagging more than 280 seats alone this time. Nation wants Narendra Modi to be the PM again,” said Shah.

He claimed, “There were a lot of expectations and I believe our party met them. In some cases we have exceeded the expectations. Narendra Modi monitored all the work and now the entire world is looking towards India.”

When queried about Opposition leaders allegations that IAF strike in Balakot was carried out in the wake of LS polls, Shah said,”Pulwama attack’s timing was not decided by the government. It was carried out by Pakistan-based terrorists. Should we have waited for elections to counter attack? We will give a befitting reply to terror attacks. Narendra Modi’s personality is about taking tough and quick decisions. India is the third country after USA and Israel to avenge the attacks on its soldiers.”

Talking about grand alliance, Shah said,”There is a mahagathbandhan but their is no synchronisation among its constituents. These alliance won’t last long.” On Ram Mandir issue, Shah said that the issue is sub-judice but it will be resolved soon.

He also reacted sharply to National Conference leader Omar Abdullah’s ‘separate PM for J&K’ demand saying,”Everyone has right to dream but his (Omar Abdullah) dream of having a PM post in Kashmir will remain in dream whether we are in power of opposition.”

Earlier in the day, while addressing a rally, Omar Abdullah had said that Kashmir became a part of the Union of India on the grounds that it would have its own identity, own constitution. “We even appointed our own president and prime minister. God willing, we will restore that as well,” Abdullah had said.
