Lok Sabha Elections 2019: The Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh will take place in seven phases, and the results will be declared on May 23. Uttar Pradesh sends the largest number of lawmakers to the 543-seat Lok Sabha at 80.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is eyeing the Farrukhabad Lok Sabha for the fourth time in the general elections.  Congress leader Salman Khurshid lost to BJP’s Mukesh Rajput in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in this constituency.

There are five assembly constituencies that fall in Etawah parliamentary constituency which are – Etawah, Bharthana (SC), Dibiyapur, Auraiya (SC) and Sikandra. For the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has fielded Ramashankar Katheria from the Etawah-SC seat as its sitting MP Ashok Kumar Doharey had joined Congress.

Meanwhile, the SP has declared Kamlesh Katheria as its candidate from Etawah parliamentary constituency.

The Yadav family has a stronghold in the Kannauj parliamentary constituency and has been holding it for the last 20 years. While SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and Sheila Dixit have represented Kannauj once, Akhilesh won it three times in a row.

Akhilesh vacated the seat after taking over as the UP CM in 2012, his wife Dimple Yadav was elected unopposed in the by-poll and retained the seat in 2014 elections.

Both the Congress and the BJP have won the Kanpur Lok Sabha seat once each in 1984 and 1996 respectively. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia had also contested from the high-profile constituency and won the elections.

This constituency currently comprises of five Vidhan Sabha segments which are – Govind Nagar, Sishamau, Arya Nagar, Kidwai Nagar and Kanpur Cantonment.

The voting in this parliamentary constituency will take place in the fourth phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls on April 29. In the fourth phase, polling will be held in 71 Lok Sabha constituencies across 9 states.

For the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP has this time fielded Satyadev Pachauri from Kanpur seat, Congress has re-nominated Sri Prakash Jaiswal while the SP has given the ticket to Shree Ram Kumar. Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi had won from this constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

This year, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP’s) Nisha Sachan, BJP’s Devendra Singh Bhole and Congress’ Raja Ram Pal are the candidates fighting the general elections.

UP’s Akbarpur Lok Sabha seat came into being after the restructuring of parliamentary constituencies in 2009. Raja Ram Pal of Congress won the seat in 2009, when the Lok Sabha election was held for the first time after delimitation. The BJP’s Devendra Singh Bhole won the seat in the next election in 2014.
