The Aam Aadmi Party national convener in a recent interview to the Indian Express seemed distressed when speaking of his party’s perceived performance in the national capital.
Arvind Kejriwal was quoted as saying, “Let us see what happens. Actually, chunaav ke 48 ghante pehle tak saaton seat lag raha tha Aam Aadmi Party ko aayengi. Last moment pe complete Muslim vote got shifted to Congress. (48 hours before the polling, we were confident of winning all seven seats. But at the last moment, Muslim vote got shifted to Congress. We are trying to find out the reasons behind it).”
Reacting to this, Dikshit remarked, “Don’t know what is he trying to say. Everyone has a right to vote whichever party he/she wants to vote. People of Delhi did not understand nor liked his governance model… ”
Coming from a confident position a few weeks ago when Kejriwal and party were passionate about giving a tough fight to both the BJP and Congress, the party national convener hinted at an unfavorable outcome from Delhi on May 23. (The counting of votes for all seven phases of the Lok Sabha election will take place on May 23)
Presently, all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi are with the BJP.
Sheila Dikshit contested Lok Sabha elections 2019 in the national capital from the North East Delhi constituency against sitting MP Manoj Tiwari of the BJP and AAP’s Dilip Pandey.
A turnout of 60.21 per cent was recorded in elections for Delhi’s seven parliamentary constituencies on Sunday amid reports of EVM malfunctioning in some polling stations.
