New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi said on Monday that though PM Narendra Modi insulted his father late Rajiv Gandhi, all he had for the BJP leader was love. (Catch Complete Coverage of Lok Sabha Elections 2019)

Addressing a gathering in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, Rahul said, “Modi ji desh ke PM hain magar kal aur aaj ek shaheed vyakti ka apmaan karte hain. Aapke dil mein jitna bhi krodh ho, aap mujhe, mere pita, mata, dada, dadi ke baare mein jo kehna chahte ho kaho, aap meri taraf jitni bhi nafrat phenkoge mere dil se sirf pyaar wapas aayega (Modi ji is the Prime Minister but yesterday and today he has spoken about a martyr. You may say whatever you want about me, my father, mother, grandparents. No matter how much hatred you throw against me, only love will come out of my heart).”

“Your father was termed Mr Clean by his courtiers, but his life ended as Bhrashtachari no. 1 (Corrupt no. 1),” Modi had said, drawing sharp criticism from Opposition leaders. The PM targeted Rajiv Gandhi earlier today as well, asking Congress to fight the elections in the name of the slain prime minister during whose regime Bofors and Bhopal gas tragedy happened.

At the rally, the Congress chief also spoke about the minimum income guarantee promise, the party’s poll plank, and said it will
boost the country’s economy. “Nyay scheme will give a boost to Delhi and country’s economy,” he said.

Delhi will vote in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 12.
