The Delhi University has been in the news for quite some time now for the row with University Grants Commission over its Four Year Undergrad Programme. Last week the university finally decided to scrap the Four Year Undergrad Programme (FYUP) and go back to the old three-year course pattern. The admissions have begun today after a week’s delay.
After Delhi’s Sri Ram College of Commerce announced its first cut-off list yesterday, the detailed list was put up on the university’s official website too. The university’s first cut-off list has touched 100 per cent mark once again this year.
There are more than three lakh students who began with the campus circuit for admissions. For all the Arts students willing to study Computer Science at Acharya Narendra Dev, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee colleges, the “100 per cent cut-off” has left them quizzical.
Even last year, the 100 per cent cut-off for computer science at Ram Lal Anand College had created a a rage amongst the students.
The Delhi University has announced that it will release eight lists this year. As of now, the students are expecting a subsequent drop in the cut- offs in the second, third and fourth lists.
Delhi’s Hindu College has announced a 97.25-99.75 per cent bar for Commerce and 97.5-99 per cent for Economics. Moreover, for English courses too, the college has asked kept the cut- off as high as 98.5 per cent. Hindu College principal Pradyuman Kumar validated the high cut-offs saying it reduces too many applications.
Maximum numbers of colleges have set a 90-plus benchmark for their commerce courses, with the highest touching 99.75 per cent.
