Mumbai: Central Railway locals faced a 15-minute delay today due to a technical problem between Matunga and Sion stations. The delay was caused by an overhead wire issue that left a local train in the Up direction stranded for nearly 35 minutes from 7.45 am to 8.20 am. Following this incident, some trains were diverted to the slow line, resulting in a 15-minute delay for all local trains on the Central Railway network. Passengers were advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect minor delays during peak hours.

According to an update by Senior Divisional Operation Manager (Coaching), Mumbai Division, Central Railway, a bamboo from a construction site fell onto the overhead equipment (OHE) wire between Sion and Matunga stations on the UP TH line, disrupting suburban services.

Visuals have emerged online depicting commuters risking their lives by walking on the tracks towards CSMT due to a prolonged train halt. Some commuters took to social media platforms like X to provide real-time updates on the situation, while others opted for the chat section of the M-Indicator App to share crucial information.
