Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Election Commission (EC) has asked political parties in Maharashtra to furnish details of helicopters and aircraft used for campaigning, along with the details of the people ferried in them as well as their origin and destination, three days before the intended journey. But the duration for submitting these details has now been reduced to 24 hours.

As per an April 12 letter by Tejas Samel, deputy election officer of Mumbai Suburban district, such information must be mandatorily furnished by political parties to the district election office, three days ahead of the journey, but that duration has now been reduced to 24 hours.

“We are sending a revised letter on April 17. Instead of three days, they have to inform us 24 hours in advance,” Samel told news agency PTI on Tuesday night, adding that the the details should also include the make of the aircraft/helicopter and people travelling in them.

The letter said this information has to be furnished under the Model Code of Conduct in force for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, which has to be sent to the Election Commission.
