Maharashtra Covid Cases: The pandemic is a time that no one across the world would like to remember, even in India. Each time a covid variant peaked and then subsided, it led to the surge of cases for a new variant. The Covid-19 variant Omicron now has a sub-variant KP.2 which has replaced the JN.1 variant and comes from the FLiRT variant. Cases of this new variant have been reported abroad and unfortunately, the sub-variant has also reached India as cases have been reported in Maharashtra. According to the latest update, 91 cases of the new sub-variant of Covid19 have been detected in Maharashtra and the first case was recorded in January this year. As the cases continue to rise, take a look at its symptoms and the precautionary measures according to doctors that must be followed by the citizens to keep themselves safe.
As mentioned earlier, cases of FLiRT, the sub-variant of Covid19 variant Omicron have been reported in Maharashtra. While the first case was reported in January, 2024, as of now, 91 cases have been reported in the state, out of which 51 are in Pune and 20 cases in Thane; seven cases have been reported in Amraati and Aurangabad each, two cases have been reported in Solapur and once case each has been reported from Ahmednagar, Nashik, Latur and Sangli.
According to a report by Financial Express, Dr Rishikesh Dessai, Internal Medicine, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has been quoted as saying that this sub-variant of the new FLiRT variant which includes KP 0.2 and KP 1.1 is much more contagious than the other omicron sub-variants but hospitalisation is quite low.
