The incident comes amidst the backdrop of alleged sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls at a school in Badlapur town near Mumbai which has triggered widespread protests in Maharashtra.
Amidst the outrage and protests over the sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls at a school in Badlapur town near Mumbai, a similar case has come to the fore from Akola district in Maharashtra where a 47-year-old teacher at government-run school was arrested and dismissed from service for allegedly sexually harassing girl students by showing them obscene videos on his phone.
According to the officials, the incident came to light when the girl students called the toll-free number of the Child Welfare Committee and complained against the teacher.
Following the complaint, a team of committee members visited the school on Tuesday morning and spoke to the girl students who narrated their ordeal to them, said Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer B Vaishnavi.
Based on the complaint by the students, the accused teacher Pramod Sardar, was arrested by the police and was charged with sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of women, Vaishnavi said, adding that Sardar has been terminated from service.

A police official said an FIR has been registered against the accused teacher at Ural police station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Citing the FIR, the official said six girl students complained that the teacher had been showing them obscene videos on his mobile phone for the past four months.
“The teacher has been arrested and further investigation in the case is underway,” the official said.
