New Delhi: A communique issued by the Central Railway has said that local train services were affected on a section of the Central Railway route in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Monday afternoon due to a technical fault, said the officials.
The interruption led to crowding at Thakurli railway station, police said.
The Mumbai Division Central Railway in a post on X said, “Due to a technical issue between Thakurli and Kalyan down through line is affected from 14.28 pm. Our technical team is working on it to resume service. The inconvenience caused is regretted.”

However, the official account of Mumbai Division Central Railway posted an update on X: “Main line service is restored at 17:03hrs and Service are Running behind Schedule Time.”

Kiran Undre, the senior police inspector with the Government Railway Police in Dombivli, reported that an OHE (overhead equipment) wire between Thakurli and Kalyan developed a snag, disrupting services.
A large crowd gathered at Thakurli railway station, which the GRP managed, he mentioned.
Additionally, some commuters reported hearing loud blast-like sounds from the OHE at those locations.
