Mumbai Water Cut: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a 24-hour temporary water supply disruption in select areas of Mumbai’s eastern suburbs, such as Ghatkopar, Bhandup, and Mulund. The interruption will commence from 11:30 am on May 24 and last until 11:30 am on May 25, as per Mid-Day reports. The water supply cut is necessary due to ongoing work to divert an existing diameter water main along the Mulund Goregaon Link Road (GMLR) in parts of N Ward, S Ward, and T Ward. The section from Fortis Hospital to Udyog Shetra in Mulund (West), T Ward, requires diversion to avoid interference with the foundation of the GMLR flyover.
Residents are advised by the BMC to store an adequate amount of water during the shutdown period and to use water judiciously. Additionally, as a precautionary measure, citizens are encouraged to boil and filter water for the following four to five days post the restoration of supply to ensure water safety.
