Mumbai Weather latest News: Like the Karnataka Heatwave, Mumbai has also been experiencing scorching heat for the past few months with the maximum temperature rising everyday. However, Mumbaikars have witnessed sudden relief from the summer temperatures as they welcomed heavy rainfall for the last few days along with strong winds and lightning. If you are a resident of Mumbai, there is a latest Mumbai Weather Update by the India Meteorological Department where the IMD has issued a yellow alert in certain parts of the city. Latest Mumbai Weather Update News: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 14th May

As mentioned earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for parts of Mumbai and have predicted heavy rains, thunderstorms and dry, gusty winds. This yellow alert is specifically for the Thane and Raigad district and the residents of these areas have been cautioned for possible thunderstorms and winds at the speed of 30-40 kmph. These weather conditions may persist till today, May 14, 2024.

Mumbai Maximum-Minimum Temperatures

While some areas have been receiving heavy showers, according to an Indian Express report, the data from IMD observatories of Santacruz and Colaba have indicated zero rainfall. Before the showers, the maximum temperature of Mumbai was between 33 and 34 degree Celsius. Rainy weather conditions have been experienced by Vikhroli, Powai and Panvel areas of Mumbai during the past weekend.

Maharashtra IMD Weather Update for upcoming days

Apart from Mumbai, weather conditions are similar in other districts of Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for districts like Kolhapur, Satara, Pune, Ahmednagar, Nashik and parts of Vidarbha.

A Times Now report has quoted a senior IMD scientist as saying, “Currently, there is a trough and a line of discontinuity, resulting in the interaction of different types of winds – dry and moist winds. This interaction is likely to cause light drizzles in Mumbai and Thane.”

Mumbai Weekly Weather Alert (14th May to 19th May )

Speaking of the week starting on May 13, IMD has expected rain or thundershowers from evening or night time; the maximum and minimum temperatures may hit 33 and 27 degree Celsius respectively. On May 14-15, partly cloudy weather is expected with max temperature being 34 degree Celsius and min temperature being 26 degree Celsius. On May 18, clear skies are predicted with min temperature being 27 degree and max temperature being 35 degree Celsius.
