Pune Car Crash: Govt Forms Three-Member Panel After Allegation Of Rs 3 Lakh Bribe To Change Blood Sample Of Teen

Pune: A three-member committee has been formed by the Maharashtra government in response to the recent arrest of two doctors and a hospital employee from Sassoon General Hospital in Pune. The individuals were apprehended in connection with the suspected tampering of a blood sample from a teen driver involved in the tragic Porsche car crash that killed two techies. The committee, led by Dr. Pallavi Sapale, Dean of Grant Medical College and J J group of hospitals, includes Dr. Gajanan Chavan and Dr. Sudhir Chowdhary.

The Medical Education Commissioner, Rajiv Nivatkar, issued the directive for this inquiry. Dr. Vinayak Kale, Dean of Sassoon General Hospital, has been instructed to fully cooperate with the committee during the investigation process.

The arrested individuals, including Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor from the Forensic Medicine department, along with Atul Ghatkamble, are currently in police custody until May 30.

According to reports, the peon, Atul Ghatkamble, who was arrested in the Pune Porsche crash case along with two doctors for allegedly manipulating the blood test report of the 17-year-old accused, handed Rs. 3 lakh bribe to the doctors.  Ghatkamble, acted as the middleman and collected Rs. 3 lakh bribe meant for the two doctors from the teen’s family.

Investigation has revealed Dr Tawade and the teen accused’s father spoke over the phone on the day of the accident. Dr Taware has hinted at the minor blood samples being replaced by the blood samples of a doctor, it’s learnt. Officials said the samples were swapped to remove the traces of alcohol.
