The Railway Board has granted approval for the operation of a bi-weekly train connecting Goa and Maharashtra’s Konkan region from Bandra Terminus station on the Western Railway (WR). This move aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility to the coastal regions. The inaugural run of the train is scheduled for August 29 from Borivali, a key station on WR, instead of Bandra Terminus. This decision is expected to streamline travel for passengers from the Western suburbs of Mumbai looking to explore Goa, a popular holiday destination.

Starting a Goa-bound train from Bandra Terminus will particularly benefit tourists from the Western suburbs, eliminating the need to travel to Central Railway’s stations. A WR official said in absence of a cord line, they will have to change the direction from north to south at Vasai road for running Konkan-bound trains from their system, which will be time consuming and could affect other trains’ punctuality as well.
