New Delhi: Sanjay Gaikwad, an MLA of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Monday, 16 September 2024, made a horrific comment after he announced a reward of Rs 11 lakh to anyone who will “chop off the tongue” of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his statements on reservation in the USA.

The comment has snowballed in a big controversy.

Sanjay Gaikwad, targeting Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi said that he wants to end reservation for backward tribals and others and hence he is using language of ending it.

“When the demands of reservation are rising in Maharashtra and the country, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a statement to end reservation in the country. In the Lok Sabha elections, he spread a false narrative to get votes. Today he is speaking the language of ending reservation from the country and has shown the real face of the Congress. This is my challenge whoever chops off Rahul Gandhi’s tongue will be given a reward of Rs 11 lakh on my behalf,” said Gaikwad, as reported by IE.

Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekar Bawankule said he does not support the MLA’s remarks.

“While he was abroad, Rahul Gandhi said that he wants to finish off the reservation system in India. This has exposed the true face of the Congress,” Gaikwad said while talking to the media during which he announced the atrocious reward.

“During his recent US visit, Rahul Gandhi talked about ending reservations. It shows the mindset that is inherently opposed to reservations. I will reward anyone who cuts off Rahul Gandhi’s tongue with Rs 11 lakh,” Gaikwad said.

Gaikwad, the Shiv Sena (Shinde) MLA from Buldhana, is not new to controversies. Earlier in March, a video of him went viral in which he is assaulting a group of men with a policeman’s. Gaikwad admitted that he had attacked those individuals adding that he was forced to beat up the men who were being unruly.
