Delhi, Mar 20: After Aam Aadmi Party‘s (AAP) poor performance in Punjab and Goa, AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed the volunteers not to lose hope in the party and asked them to gear up for the upcoming MCD elections. The party president further added that winning is not the sole purpose of the party and AAP is in politics for nation building.

Trying to boost morale in the demoralised AAP volunteers, Kejriwal commented on the party’s poor performance in the Assembly elections and stated that “We are not Napoleon to win election after election to cover territories. We are here for nation’s development. We are not going to spend all life in fighting elections. Elections are small things. Nation building is the bigger thing. Giving education and health to the people is our dream and we want to fulfil it.”

The Delhi Chief Minister further asked the volunteers to focus on the MCD elections stating that AAP’s main focus in the elections is to clean Delhi and end corruption in the civic bodies. “If an honest party like ours wins MCD, we will clean Delhi and improve education and health sectors further,” Kejriwal said, further adding that, “We will and clean up Delhi and make it the capital the country deserves.”

AAP on Sunday released the fourth list of the volunteers contesting the MCD elections. AAP has fielded a total of 257 candidates for the MCD polls so far and is expected to release the name of 15 more candidates soon. Urging volunteers to campaign for the party, Kejriwal stated “You have treaded the path of truth and the road to will be full of thorns. But at the end truth will prevail. I saluting the volunteers for their sacrifice and hard work.”

Attacking rival parties ahead of the MCD polls, AAP has alleged that the North, South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations have failed in delivering basic amenities to the people of Delhi despite the timely release of the funds. AAP has promised that if the party emerges victorious in the MCD polls, they will make a corruption-free government in the civic body and provide better health facilities.

Polling for the three corporations of Delhi will be held on April 22 and the results for the same will be announced on April 25.
