New Delhi, April 26: Joharipur, Gokal puri, Saboli and Harsh Vihar of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation comes under the Gokalpur assembly constituency. The voters of the four wards voted on April 23. The campaign was also marred by controversies revolving around the allegations of EVM tampering. Early trends indicated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to lead in all the three Municipal Corporations.

Gokal Puri along with neighbouring wards have a common set of problems ranging from drainage and sanitation to lack of education infrastructure. Gokal puri constituency has been declared reserved for women of Scheduled Castes community. In the civic polls of Bharatiya Janta Party succeeded in winning Saboli and Harsh Vihar wards while BSP surprised the pollsters by clinching Gokalpur ward.

The Exit Poll results have predicted a thumping victory for BJP and debacle for AAP and Congress party in East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC). While the Axis India Today predicted a win on 45-51 seats for the BJP, ABP News C-Voter survey has suggested a win on 47 seats in the East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
