New Delhi, March 25: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah on Saturday addressed the Delhi BJP’s mega convention of booth-level workers at Ramlila Ground on Saturday ahead of the MCD Elections 2017. While speaking at the event, he attacked the Delhi government and accused it of not full-filling the promises made by it during the Assembly elections in the state. He also lauded the booth workers for their efforts and thanked them for helping the BJP form government in four out of five states that went to Assembly Elections 2017 recently.
He also said that after huge victory during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has won in all the other states except in Delhi and Bihar. “We all should pledge to perform well in the MCD Elections 2017 and bring the BJP to power,” he said.
Hailing the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah said that in just three years, after the BJP government came to power at the Centre in 2014, a huge positive change has been witnessed in India. “The government run by PM Modi since last three years has not faced even a single corruption charge by the Opposition,” Shah said.
Strengthening his attack on the AAP government in Delhi even further, Shah accused the party of corruption. He said that it is a party whose ministers are in facing jail term over charges of corruption against them. “The people of Delhi voted AAP to power thinking they will get a good government. In such a short time, no other government indulged in as much corruption as AAP has done so far,” he was quoted saying. In 2016, AAP’s Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar was arrested by the CBI for his involvement in a graft case. (ALSO SEE – MCD Elections 2017: Arvind Kejriwal promises no house tax if AAP wins)
Citing the Delhi High Court observation, Shah also attacked the AAP for allegedly spending money on advertisements in different states like Tamil Nadu, Punjab, etc. Urging the people to vote for BJP in MCD elections, Shah said that “the people should correct the mistake they had made in Assembly elections by voting for AAP.”
The convention, which was previously to be held on March 19 but was postponed due to Yogi Adityanath’s swearing-in ceremony as UP CM, was attended by Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari and union minister M Venkaiah Naidu along with with around 65,000 workers. The MCD Election 2017 is scheduled on April 23. The counting of votes for the same will be held on April 26.
