New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and former Delhi chief minister has suffered a major defeat in the New Delhi assembly seat. He is defeated by Parvesh Verma of the BJP.
Speaking on the outcome of the results, Kejriwal said, “The results of the Delhi elections have come in, and whatever decision the public has made, we accept it with humility. The public’s decision is paramount, congratulations to the BJP for their victory. I hope that they will live up to all the hopes and expectations with which they have been given a majority. In the 10 years that the public gave us a chance, we did a lot of work in education, health, water, electricity, and tried to provide relief to the people. We will play the role of the opposition, we will be there for the joys and sorrows of the people.”
The election for the Delhi assembly was held on February 5 in a single phase and the results are being announced on Saturday, 08 February 2025.
According to the latest update, the BJP has won a majority of seats and poised to form the next government.
