Perched atop the green hills of Nilgiris between the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Coonoor is the second largest hill-station in South India after Ooty. It is located at an altitude of 1839 metres above the sea-level. If you think that Ooty is too mainstream for you, try Connor. Southern part of this hill-station is much more pretty and picturesque than its northern counterpart, which is like any other bustling city.

How to get there:

There are multiples getaway to this hill station, but the nearest one is from Coimbatore airport, if you flying to this destination. The main attraction is the mountain train which connects the beeline of hill stations from Ooty to Mettupalayam (which is about 56 kilometres away from Coonoor). Marvel at the natural beauty as you chug slowly through this toy train! You get to see extensive tea and coffee plantations as you reach Coonoor through this train.



The weather here is pleasant throughout the year. But, catch Coonoor’s beauty at its best in misty monsoons! But in terms of overall temperature and weather, now is the best time to visit the green valleys of Coonor. October to March is the golden time to make a journey here. Temperature during this time is around 15’C to 25’C.
