One of the most visited pilgrimage places in India, Shirdi is a famous town in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. Also known as the Land of Sai, the main attraction here is the shrine of Shirdi Sai Baba. However, this small town has an incredible lot to see and do apart from the temples. Here’s what you should see to make the most of your trip in Shirdi.
Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, one of the most renowned Hindu shrines in India, is dedicated to Sri Sai Baba. Though the temple remains open from early morning to late at night, the best time to go is during the Aarti.
Spotted for the first time by the world, sitting under a neem tree, Sai Baba was in Gurusthan, about 14km from the main town. Today, there’s a shrine on the site and devotees believe that burning incense sticks here can cure them of all kinds of ailment.

However, Dwarkamai Mosque is where Sai Baba is said to have spent a significant part of his life including his last moments. The highlight of Dwarkamai is that it happens to be the only mosque in India with a temple in it. People from different faiths and religions come here to pay homage to Sai Baba and his teachings.
For a little picnic, a day at Sai Heritage Village, a beautiful theme park is a must. The village showcases many statues that depict important events that occurred in the life of Sai Baba.
Located close to Dwarkamai Mosque, Chavadi is where Sai Baba would go every alternate night to sleep in his later years. That’s because the mosque had started to leak during monsoons. Divided into two parts, one part of Chavadi has a wooden bed with a large portrait of Sai Baba, while the other has a white chair belonging to him.
