If all you need is a little day trip fro the bustling cities of Maharashtra, to relax and rejuvenate amidst nature – the answer is Kune Falls nestled right between Lonavala and Khandala. Kune Waterfalls is an ideal getaway from both Pune and Mumbai. It’s perhaps the most beautiful falls in the state of Maharashtra; owing to its staggering altitute as well as the gorgeous Sahyadri as the backdrop. It is a three-tiered waterfall cascading down from a height of 200 meters and it’s completely surrounded by lush green vegetation making it a visual delight.

Although the falls it’s at its best during the monsoons – because obviously the intensity of water gushing is higher; it doesn’t disappoint during the rest of the year either. The pool of water beneath the falls is ideal for a swim, and you can easily have a nice picnic spread on the surrounding area with a little vegetation. There are also provisions for rappelling and zip-lining here.

A popular attraction in the vicinity is the Kune Church; which also serves as a landmark to reach the waterfalls. From the church, it’s actually just a short walk to Kune falls. Make sure to savour some raw mangoes here or the ripe Afooz or Alfonso mangoes famous around this area. It’s highly recommended that you eat at Triose Plaza, which is full of eateries like the Cream Stone, Kareem’s, Chaat Cafe and more.

You could couple your visit to Lonavala by exploring other places too such as Walwan Dam, Rajmachi Fort and Tiger’s Leap. Kune is 83km away from Mumbai and 70km (2 hour) from Pune. The waterfall is located on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway.
