Located between Kalka and Shimla, Kasauli is a quaint hill station, about 6 hours from Delhi. Do not confuse it with Kasol, which too is in Himachal Pradesh, and takes around 12 hours to reach from Delhi. Kasauli is ideal for a weekend getaway; nestled amidst the Shivalik Range, it offers unparalleled scenic beauty. Here’s what you must do on a visit apart from visiting the iconic Christ Church, the historic Gurkha Fort, Kasauli Brewery and the Tibetan Markets.

Trekking

Trekking from the Lower Mall Road in Kasauli to various points such as Manki, Jabli, and Sunset Point – is extremely mesmerising. The jaw-dropping vistas of the hills and the valleys and a cool and comfortable weather just add on to the overall experience.

Nature Walks

Walking along the picture-perfect hill station is refreshing and rejuvenating. You can walk around in the Lower Mall, Kimmughat, Sanatorium, Lover’s Lane, and the Cantonment area. Carry your camera around for the most gorgeous pictures of the Himalayan peaks in the distance.

Gilbert Trail Walkway

An adventure activity in its own right, walking on the 1.5km long Gilbert Trail is quite challenging owing to the narrow winding paths of the rocky cliffs. It can be accessed from the Lover’s Lane; however, exercising caution is recommended.

Timber Trail Ropeway

If you have children with you on the trip, taking the 1.8km long Timber Trail Ropeway Cablecar is highly recommended. It’s the best way to enjoy majestic views of the mountains and the green valleys of Himachal Pradesh.

Toy Train Ride

Your trip to Kasauli can’t be complete without taking a heritage toy train ride to  Dharampur and Barog and back. The most exciting bit is going under the longest tunnel at Barog, along with many other hill tunnels, oak and pine forests, gorges, and dreamy hamlets.
