Yousmarg has gone on to become an increasingly popular hill station of Jammu and Kashmir. Many factors have contributed to its allure: the pine framed hilltop meadows, lush green grassy pastures with gorgeous colourful blossoms and snow-capped mountain peaks in the background. Yousmarg is situated 47km from Srinagar at an altitude of 7,860 feet. Along with the natural beauty that you find here in this valley, it is also paradise for adventure lovers. There are beautiful lakes, rivers and waterfalls where adventurous activities are often held and the natural trails make for great trekking as well.

Yousmarg can be visited throughout the year. But if you’re looking for snow, then try visiting during December and January. For camping and adventure activity, May to July is the best time to visit. As opposed to otherwise crowded attractions like Gulmarg and Pahalgam, Yousmarg has an untouched appeal. You won’t find too many travellers here; only some locals and school kids from Srinagar. Therefore, it is an ideal retreat even if you want to spend a day here away from the crowd in Kashmir.

While you’re here, visit Sang-e-Safed Valley, an oval shaped meadow with river Doodh Ganga meandering through it. It is located around 10 kilometers uphill from Yousmarg; a trek would be the best way to get here. Charari Sharief is also worth a visit; it is regarded as the most scared Muslim shrine in India. The holy wooden shrine was built in honour of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, a Sufi saint. Approximately 600 years old, the shrine attracts people from all the faiths.

Nilnag Lake is 4km from the valley. The lake is frozen for most part of the year, but when it is not, the water of the lake is crystal clear and blue in colour. It serves as an ideal picnic spot for those looking for some calm amidst the chaos. Mahadiv Mountain and Sunset Peak are other famous points of interest here. Another popular meadow blessed with natural beauty and a historical backdrop is the Tosmaiden. Surrounded by dense green forests, the verdant landscape of the meadow has an unparalleled charm.

The nearest international airport is the Srinagar Sheikh Ul Alam Airport. Flights from international and domestic cities fly in here. Yousmarg is 47 kilometers from Srinagar. Taxis, cabs and state buses ply on the route and are easily available from the airport.
