Giridih (Jharkhand), Oct 10 (PTI) Twelve alleged cattle smugglers were arrested Wednesday and several heads of cattle were rescued from their possession in Giridih district, police said.

Following the direction of Giridih Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar Jha, the police initiated action at Bagodar and Khorimahua and stopped 12 vehicles carrying the cattle and arrested the twelve alleged cattle smugglers, according to police sources.

The police said that some of the smugglers tried to run them over during the checking.
