Imphal, Jan 23 (PTI) The 121st birth anniversary of Indian freedom fighter Subash Chandra Bose was today observed at Manipur Press Club in Imphal town.

K Gyaneshwar, the secretary of the party recalled the tribulations and thoughts of Bose who wanted the country to become independent.

He also said that Bose also sought for freedom of corruption in political arena and enhancement of economy and development.

A function was also organised at the Indian National Army Martyrs Memorial located at Moirang in Bishnupur district, around 45 kilometer from Imphal, where legislator P Saratchandra unfurled the national flag.

Top government officials and police officials also took part in the function, jointly organised by art & culture department and INA advisory committee.

A blood donation camp was also observed during the function.

The Indian National Army or the Azad Hind force provided support to the then Imperial Japanese Army during the Battle of Imphal, which is considered as the greatest defeat in the history of Japan.
