A group of men had on September 16 dragged Laxmidutta Pradhan (35), councillor of ward no. 6 in Chhatrapur Notified Area Council (NAC), out of his house and attacked him with sharp weapons, following which he succumbed to injuries in a hospital. The SP said CCTV footage obtained from the house of Pradhan helped the police to nab the accused.
Police have also seized a car, three motor-cycles, a blood-stained sword, a broken wooden baton and a hard-disk of CCTV camera footage, from the accused persons.
Enmity is suspected to be the cause of the killing, Singh added.
