Chandigarh, Sep 30 (PTI) Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar said on Sunday that senior Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa “sacrificed” his political career due to the “misdeeds” of the Badals and demanded that they should show courage by giving the party’s responsibility to any “competent leader”. Jakhar accused former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal of doing politics in the name of ‘Panth’, alleging that they had stabbed in the back of the Panth many times during their political career. “Badal has talked about sacrifice many times during his political career, but every time, he used to take political sacrifices of people who came in the way of the political path of his or his son. Dhindsa’s resignation is also the sequel to such sacrifices,” he claimed.
The state Congress president alleged that because of the Badals’ political intervention in the ‘Panth’, the Badal family “damaged” the authority of such institutions.
“Dhindsa’s resignation has once again proved that due to the misdeeds of the SAD’s top leadership, not only the common man, but its own leaders are also upset. “It would have been better if the Badal family itself comes forward and apologize for their acts against Panth and showed the courage of giving the responsibility of this historical party to any competent leader, the Gurdaspur MP demanded.
