Madrid, June 12 (IANS) Qatar’s Al-Sadd football club midfielder Xavi Hernandez sent a message on Monday calling for an end to the current crisis between Qatar and Arab countries and appealed for a quick solution.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have severed diplomatic ties with Qatar and imposed a land, sea and air blockade on that country, accusing it of supporting terror organisations such as the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic State terror organisation and al-Qaida, reports Efe.
The Qatari club posted a video on its Twitter account, in which the former Barcelona player said he would want to appeal for an end to the crisis in the Arab world and an end to the blockade imposed on Qatar.
The 37-year-old Spaniard pointed out these problems impact “many people, families”, soccer and sport in general.
Xavi said he hopes that there will be a resolution soon of the crisis so that people can “live in peace and enjoy football together.”
