Visakhapatnam (AP), Mar 29 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today advised business management students to become entrepreneurs instead of being mere job- seekers.

“Now you are armed with a degree and MBA from an institute like IIM-Visakhapatnam. It is time to imagine, as imagination only will give you the wings for your career growth,” he said in his address at the convocation of Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Visakhapatnam here.

He urged the IIM graduates to become entrepreneurs instead of being mere job-seekers and asked them to come to Amaravati to have a glimpse of his real-time management.

He said the fourth industrial revolution had begun and it hinged on IT and IOT (internet of things).

‘Make technology as the platform for building your dreams.

Set goals and proceed systematically towards them,” he told the students.

He said earning money was only a by-product, the important thing was building a strong career that revolves around ethical values.

The Chief Minister appreciated IIM-Visakhapatnam for giving 25 per cent of the seats to girls.

“Women empowerment is the key to overall development of a country. The role reversal has set in. Earlier, women were dependent on men. Now, it’s the other way round,” he said.

He asked the IIM to increase the percentage of seats for women to 50 in the coming years. Earlier, the chairman of Governing Board of IIM-Visakhapatnam Hari S Bhartia said though this was the second batch that was passing out of the institute, it was the first batch to be awarded an MBA degree, after the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017, came into force.

He said in about three years, IIM-Visakhapatnam would have its own state-of-the-art campus at Gambheeram in the city.

Earlier, the Chief Minister awarded degrees to 43 of the total 45 students, in the presence of their parents.

Director of IIM-Visakhapatnam professor M Chandrasekhar said the students from across 19 States constituted the batch and the institute achieved 100 per cent placement.
