Kanpur, Feb 12 (PTI) A 50-year-old gas balloon seller today died in a cylinder explosion while his 45-year-old wife was seriously injured in the incident outside Green Park Stadium here during an election awareness rally.
Shivlakhan, accompanied by his wife and teenage daughter, had come at gate number 10 of the stadium in the morning, said district administration officials.
A sudden explosion in the gas cylinder left Shivlakhan and his wife grievously injured, they said.
Both were rushed to the district hospital where Shivlakhan was announced brought dead and the condition of his wife was stated to be serious. The teenage girl didn’t suffer any injuries in the incident, they said.
Later, a statement released by District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that the balloon seller was not called by administration and he had come on his own.
