Ghaziabad, July 13 (IANS) Ghaziabad Police is using drones and helicopters for aerial surveillance in view of heavy rush of ‘kanwarias’ or devotees of Lord Shiva who ferry holy river water for religious rituals to their native places.
As many as 30 new closed-circuit television have been installed at strategic points on the route taken by the pilgrims, Superintendent of Police (City) Akash Tomar said.
As many as 37 CCTVs were already functioning, managed by city police control room.
The new ones have been installed at Meerut tri-junction on National Highway-58, Mohan Nagar, Karan Gate, Vasundhara area, Bikaner area, Dabur Tiraha, UP Gate, Kala Pathhar on National Highway-24, Lalkuan, Atma steel area, Diamond Flyover, Collectorate, and Dudheswar Nath temple and other places.
He said the National Highway-24 would remain closed for heavy traffic from July 15 to 22.
A separate passage for use by ‘kanwarias’ from Haridwar to Ghaziabad has been set up.
