Srikakulam(AP), May 20 (PTI): Actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan today hit out at the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) saying it had failed on all fronts, including securing special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
On the SCS issue, it was only the Jana Sena that had been ‘sincerely’ fighting for the cause whereas Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had done countless flip-flops, he said, addressing a public meeting at Itchapuram in the district.
“One day he says there is no use of SCS and then says it is not a panacea. But now he demands SCS since we have been consistently fighting for it,” Kalyan said.
The Jana Sena leader also charged that Naidu was not able to get anything done from the centre because of his ‘fear’ of the BJP.
“Why does he fear the BJP so much…Only God knows the secret,” he said adding Naidu was now blaming the centre for everything only to cover up his ‘failures.’ Kalyan said he had supported the TDP-BJP combine in the 2014 assembly elections in the hope that they would do good to the state that had just been divided.
The TDP came to power in 2014 only with the active support of Jana Sena, he added.
“However, our hopes were belied. Chandrababu Naidu, who claims to have a rich political experience of four decades, completely failed the people of the state. He only succeeded in making AP the second most corrupt state in the country,” he alleged.
He charged that the TDP government had failed on all fronts, except in corruption.
“Sand mafia is ruling the roost in the state while public money is being lavishly splurged by the powers-that- be,” he said.
The Chief Minister had been globe-trotting on the pretext of signing MoUs worth lakhs of crores of rupees but in reality nothing has come to the state so far, the Jana Sena chief alleged.
Kalyan was also critical of the YSR Congress saying it failed to be an effective opposition.
He said the party will contest in all the 175 seats in next year’s Assembly elections and hoped to come to power.
“I apologise for not having contested the 2014 elections but in 2019 we will contest all the 175 seats and come to power. It will be a people’s government that will usher in a new era of change,” Kalyan added.
Earlier, Kalyan launched the “Jana Sena Porata Yatra” from Kaviti in the district.
