Kohima, Jan 31 (PTI) The Joint Coordination Committee and Nagaland Tribes Action Committee today remembered the two Naga youths who were killed during protest against the state government’s decision to hold election to urban local bodies (ULB) with 33 per cent women reservation last year. The two youths – Khriesavizo Metha and Bendangnungsang Longkumer – were killed and several others injured as crowd gathered protesting the government s decision on ULB elections near the private residence of Chief Minister T R Zeliang in Dimapur and the police tried to stop them on this date last year. The Joint Coordination Committee and Nagaland Tribes Action Committee, constituted under emergent situation that time, today organized a programme to dedicate the memorial monolith conducted just above Old MLA hostel junction here. “The monument erected in their memory cannot repay the …, but it can only be a symbol of our utmost gratitude,” said chairman of the programme Dr P Ngully in his opening remarks.
Angami Public Organisation, Advisor, Vilhusa Seleyi said Naga youths need to follow their sacrifices and trustworthiness.
JCC Co-convener Luolao Usuo and NTAC Convenor K T Vilie Theunuo also attended the gathering.
