Kolkata/Darjeeling, Sep 1 (PTI) West Bengal police today issued a lookout notice against absconding GJM supremo Bimal Gurung for his alleged involvement in various cases including the bomb blast in Kalimpong police station in which a civic volunteer was killed.Also Read - Very Excited, Will Work For Bengal's Development: Babul Supriyo After Joining TMC

The development comes on a day when the indefinite shutdown in the hills entered its 79th day after Gurung revoked party convener Binay Tamang’s decision of suspending it till September 12 and removed him from his post. He is wanted in various cases including the bomb blast case in Kalimpong police station,” ADG (law and order) Anuj Sharma told PTI.

Gurung has been absconding since the day cases were filed against him, said a senior police official.

He had been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with two blasts in Darjeeling hills on August 19.

A hand grenade was hurled at the Kalimpong police station on August 19 night killing a civic volunteer and injuring two others. On the same day in another incident a high-intensity explosion rocked the Chowkbazar area of Darjeeling town.

Gurung has kept contact with his supporters through recorded audio messages.

Apart from UAPA, charges under the Explosive Substances Act, the West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order Act, IPC Section 302 (murder) were also slapped against him.
