Valsad (Guj), Apr 29 (PTI) A local court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a one-and-a-half years old girl in August last year.
Judge M M Mansuri of the special court for POCSO Act cases here sentenced Narbahadur Bhandari, a Nepali national living in Vapi town of Valsad district, to “life imprisonment till death”.
According to the prosecution, the victim’s father and Bhandari were friends.
On the day of the incident, Bhandari had called on the complainant at his house. When the complainant left his house briefly for some errand, leaving his baby daughter with Bhandari, the latter raped her and then fled.
The special court convicted Bhandari under section 376 of IPC (rape) and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
