The conference also discussed on improving the quality of policing and investigation by setting up of forensic science laboratories, induction of new technology.

Challenges of cyber security and social media were also deliberated upon, the release said.

Presiding over the valedictory function today, Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit expressed satisfaction at the improving security scenario in the North East region.

He, however, reminded the participants about outstanding issues related to identity and ethnicity.

Inaugurating the conference yesterday, Assam Chief Minister Sabananda Sonowal emphasized the need for all states of the region to work as ‘team North East’.

The conference was attended by Directors General of Police from all seven North Eastern states.

Assam Rifles DG, representatives from West Bengal Police and Heads of Central Police Organizations in the region also took part in the conference.
