Rajgir, May 16 (PTI) The month-long “Malmas Mela”, which attracts people from across the country to this pilgrimage town in central Bihar, was today inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Kumar, who also launched a mobile app that would help tourists gain information about Rajgir, which was the capital of the mighty Magadh empire in ancient India.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said it filled him with pride that his native district of Nalanda was home to Rajgir which was held sacred by Hindus, Jains, Buddhists,Sikhs and Muslims alike.
“I make it a point to visit this place at least once every year. Whenever I come here, I am filled with peace. This year, Malmas Mela has been included in the list of state festivals. Therefore, visitors may look forward to better facilities henceforth”, the Chief Minister said.
