Puducherry, Nov 29 (PTI) Professor Gurmeet Singh today assumed office as the Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, a central institution here.
Singh is the seventh Vice-Chancellor of the university, a press release said.
He was with the Department of Chemistry in Delhi University prior to this appointment.
The university did not have a full-fledged Vice-Chancellor for nearly two years and Anisa Basheer Khan, a senior faculty was the acting VC.
Union HRD Ministry last week issued a notification appointing Singh as the new VC.
