New Delhi [India], Mar. 7 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee presented Visitor Awards for the year 2017 on the last day of ‘Festival of Innovation’ held in Rashtrapati Bhawan yesterday.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) also won the Visitor Award 2017 for the ‘Best University’.
“The JNU has been adjudged the best university for its unrelenting pursuit of academic excellence,” President tweeted.
The Visitor award for ‘research’ was jointly received by Dr. Shyam Sundar from Banaras Hindu University and Prof. Niranjan Karak from Tezpur University from President Mukherjee.
In a series of tweet he said, “Area of research activity should align with the development challenges of our nation. Innovative mind should create tools and implements that alleviate the drudgery of farmers, workers, artisans, and weavers.”
The winners of the Visitor award for ‘research’ will receive a citation and cash award of Rs. 1 lakh and the ‘Best University’ will get a citation and a trophy. (ANI)
