Washington, Jan 27 (PTI) Scores of Indian-Americans in the US attended the 70th Republic Day celebrations in front of the Indian Embassy in Washington.

Indian Ambassador to the US Harsh Vardhan Shringla paid floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in front of the Indian Embassy and unfurled the national flag in the presence of large number of Indian-Americans.

In his brief address to the gathering, Shringla lauded the pivotal role played by the Indian diaspora in the US to strengthen the bond of friendship between the two countries.

He also read out the address of President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of the Republic Day.

Republic Day celebrations were also observed at other Indian diplomatic missions in the US – New York, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco.
