The local arm of the Swiss drug major today launched a glucometer called Accu-Chek Instant S at a price of Rs 1,099 that helps in self-monitoring of the blood sugar levels. Also Read - 'Jammu And Kashmir to Reopen For Tourism Soon', Says J&K Administration

“With India having the largest number of people with diabetes in the world, we saw the need to take regular self- monitoring of diabetes to a larger population with a product that is not just affordable but is also easy to use. “Self-monitoring of blood glucose is integral to diabetes management. We have seen in our experience that regular monitoring ensures minimised risks of diabetes-related complications,” Roche Diabetes Care India managing director Sidhartha Roy said in a statement.

Despite all the benefits of self-monitoring, only 10 per cent of diabetics own a glucosemeter. The new glucometer offers best-in-class accuracy and meets the latest global standards, at an affordable price of Rs 1099, he said.

The new devices offers result in under 4 seconds as it can automatically synchronise blood glucose results via a USB.

Its monitoring system also offers reliable test results that exceed the new global standards, the release said.
