Kolkata, July 5 (IANS) Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal will not be able to attend the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Athletes’ Commission meeting scheduled to take place on July 9 in Geneva, her father Harvir Singh said on Wednesday.
“Saina won’t be able to attend the meeting because of her very busy schedule. She has training,” Harvir told ‘ANM’ news channel.
Saina, ranked 10th in the world and second best in India after P.V. Sindhu who is four notches above her, will be taking part in the Badminton World Championships to be held in Glasgow from August 21-27.
The 2012 London Olympics bronze medal winner in women’s singles was inducted into the IOC Athletes’ Commission last year but then also she could not attend the meeting due to the super series tournament in China.
The Athletes’ Commission is chaired by American ice hockey Olympian Angela Ruggiero and comprises nine vice-presidents and 10 other members.
