The deceased were identified as Suresh Sharma, 62, his 10-month-old grandson Tanshu, and car diver Deepak Sharma, 27 — all residents of Kota city, Deoli-Manji police station SHO Amar Nath said. Barring the driver, the occupants of the car were all from the same family.
Three members of the family — Ashish Sharma, his mother Savitri Sharma, and wife Priyanka Sharma — suffered injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Kota where they are undergoing treatment, the SHO said.
Ashish Sharma, a Kota city resident and a lecturer in a dental college in Ahmadabad was returning to Kota with his family after paying obeisance at the Sati Mata temple in Sangod when their car collided head on with an SUV near Khand village, SHO Nath said.
The six were rushed to hospital in Kota where doctors declared three of them dead, he said.
A case of negligent driving has been registered against the SUV driver who fled the spot after the mishap, the SHO said.
The bodies were handed over to the family members this morning after postmortem and investigation into the matter is underway, he added.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old mean was killed when a truck hit his motorcycle in Jhalawar district, police said.
The deceased, identified as Santosh Meena, is a resident of Lambawar village in Baran district, they said.
He died on the spot late in the evening on Tuesday after a speeding truck hit his motorbike on Hgatoli road under Aklera police station in the Jhalawar district.
The truck driver fled the spot after the mishap but his truck was seized, Aklera police station SHO Ramkishan Meghwal said.
Police have registered a case of negligent driving against the truck driver and efforts are underway to nab him, Meghwal said.
The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem, he added.
