New Delhi, Jul 18 (PTI) Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today assumed additional charge of the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, a government official said.

Tomar replaces M Venkaiah Naidu who has resigned following his nomination as the NDA’s vice presidential candidate.

The minister was briefed by senior officials on the Centre’s flagship scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)’ which is scheduled as a starred question in Lok Sabha tomorrow, a ministry spokesman said.

A starred question is one to which a member desires an oral answer in the House. When a question is answered orally, supplementary questions can be asked.

Earlier, Tomar met Naidu and congratulated him for being chosen as the NDA’s nominee for the August 5 poll.
