Ahmedabad, Aug 15 (PTI) Two persons drowned while three others were washed away in sea at Ubharat beach in Navsari district today, the police said.
While bodies of Mahesh Rajput (18) and Raju Rajput (22) were fished out of the sea by a rescue team, a search is on to trace three others.
The five persons were part of two separate group of revellers from Surat who had come to the beach to enjoy the Independence Day holiday, said a Jalalpur police station official.
He said the five men were taking bath in the sea when the tragedy struck.
A team comprising the local police, fire brigade officials and the Marine Police is trying to trace Suraj Verma (18), Neeraj Verma (22) and Pinku Verma who were washed away in the sea.
“We have fished out two bodies so far,” he said, adding that three others are also feared drowned.
