Murugan, Chandran and Irulappan were mixing chemicals when the explosion took place, suspected to have been caused due to friction, police said. Fire and rescue services personnel and police rescued Irulappan and admitted him to hospital.

Only three workers were present in the factory at the time of the explosion, police said.
