Aizawl, Feb 6 (PTI) Two senior leaders and a suspected militant of the United Democratic Liberation Army (UDLA) were arrested by the Assam Rifles, an official statement said today.

UDLA’s Army Chief Raj Kumar Reang, Financial Secretary Neta Rai Reang and a suspected militant Mela Rai Reang were arrested by the 39th battalion of Assam Rifles on Friday night during an operation along Mizoram-Assam border, the statement said.

The arrested persons were handed over to the Assam Police as they were arrested within the jurisdiction of Assam, it added.

The insurgent outfit UDLA, comprising of people belonging to the Bru community, have been indulging in a plethora of illegal activities in the Mizoram-Assam-Tripura border areas for years including abduction, highway robbery and extortion.
