Islamabad, Feb 28 (PTI) At least two policemen were killed today in an attack by unidentified gunmen in south-western Balochistan province of Pakistan. Also Read - Pakistan Remains on FATF Grey List, Given Time Till June to Implement Full Action Plan

The attackers opened fire at the vehicle of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hameedullah Dasti on Sumungli Road of provincial capital Quetta. Also Read - Pakistan MP Who is in His Late Fifties, Marries 14-Year-Old Baloch Girl; Police Launch Probe

Police said that the two of the policemen escorting the DSP were killed. They were identified as Muhammad Thair and Ayoub shah. Dasti remained unhurt. Also Read - Govt Permits Pakistan PM Imran Khan to Use Indian Airspace For His Maiden Visit To Sri Lanka

The attackers fled when police fired at them.

Police launched a manhunt to arrest the attackers.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the attack and ordered an inquiry into it.

Nobody claimed responsibility of the attack but Baloch nationalist groups and Taliban militants often carry out such targeted attacks. PTI SH ZH ZH
