Shimla, Sep 20 (IANS) Indian Army’s Western Command chief Lt Gen Surinder Singh on Wednesday concluded his two-day visit to Himachal Pradesh’s Yol cantonment to review the operational preparedness in forward areas along Pakistan.

Lt Gen Singh was briefed by Lt Gen S.K. Saini, General Officer Commanding of Rising Star Corps, on the prevailing situation in Jammu and Pathankot regions and security measures being adopted, an official statement said.

He reviewed the preparedness of the Rising Star Corps in countering both conventional and sub-conventional threats in the region and stressed on ensuring full proof security measures.

He appreciated the coordinated efforts being made by all security agencies in the area to thwart any nefarious designs by the anti-national elements, the statement added.

The Yol cantonment in Kangra district, some 250 km from the state capital, overlooking Dharamsala town is one of the oldest cantonments in the region.
